NCHS64 2026 Get-together

BACKGROUND

At the August 16, 2025 NCHS64 picnic in Casper, our NCHS64 event coordinator Pat Ford unilaterally informed those classmates who received invitations and attended the picnic that the 2025 picnic would be the last NCHS64-sponsored event. Subsequently, the 4-member NCHS64 organizing reunion events committee ... of which I was a member ... dissolved, and it is my understanding that the NCHS64 bank account at First Interstate Bank was terminated by Pat.

Following the picnic, Greg Lamont invited the picnic attendees to an open-house get-together at his Casper home, and 50+ NCHS64 classmates and spouses attended Many of the attendees ... probably a majority ... voluntarily expressed strong interest in continuing with a scheduled annual class event into 2026 and beyond for NCHS64 ... and other interested NCHS63, NCHS65 classmates who desire to attend ... as long as we classmates had sufficient interest and were active and healthy enough to attend. I subsequently spoke with multiple classmates. Four classmates, ... Greg Lamont, Dyann Durst, Bucky Walker, and I ... agreed to get together to explore options.

We four got together in December, and came up with a preliminary plan. We unanimously agreed that the outdoor North Casper Park picnic, while generally embraced by those who attended, unintentionally excluded about 20% of our classmates and/or partners with disabilities and access issues, and we concurred there was a need for access to better bathrooms, close-in parking, and handicap access, ... assuming those disabled classmates were interested. Hence, we agreed that an indoor private or commercial facility would better meet our goals.

PROPOSAL

Without getting into all details of what we would propose, the purpose of this communication is to find out the level of interest from the NCHS class members to warrant moving ahead. We are challenged by the fact that we no longer have a bank account or money in reserve, but we four agreed that we would attempt to make the event low cost with no cost for those without the ability to pay. Ultimately, we are hoping to keep our costs below $20 per person and will likely collect money at the time of the get-together from those who can contribute to meet the costs of the event ... which coincidentally will likely be themed as our 80th Birthday celebration for all classmates, even for those who are 1 or 2 years older or younger. A primary goal in our efforts is to find a venue that is friendly for those with disabilities. Additionally, as part of the get-together, Greg Lamont again invites all classmates to his wheel-chair accessible Casper home on that evening.
